I Love Chris Matthews

Ok, not really. But did you catch him ripping a Republican Congressman a new one on Wednesday? Damn. He went after him accusing the Rep of “trying to change his uniform” in the middle of battle. He drove home the point that our country has lost tremendous value in the last few days and repeatedly asked “Where is the President?!!” And he made it abundantly clear that the current financial crisis – along with other minor issues like the war and our standing in the world – are directly related to eight years of rule by Republicans.
I’ve always been a major fan of Chris Matthews despite his interruptive and screaming style. And I’ve never understood my angry left friends who call him conservative. If Chris Matthews is conservative, I no longer know what conservative and liberal means. What I do know is he represents the logical and thoughtful Democratic leaders of our past. His years’ serving with Speaker Tip O’Neill gives him a unique perspective on our politics today. And up against destructive Keith Olbermann, he’s refreshing and trustworthy.
Near the end of the interview, Chris drove home the point again. When the Republican Rep defensively appealed that “I’m only responsible for my seat in Congress” paraphrased, Chris yelled, “So it’s every Republican for himself, sir?” And then ripped the Rep for not taking any responsibility for the man and administration he helped to elect. Classic Chris Matthews. He makes this Democrat proud.
Did I say I love Chris Matthews?
